Does this product plug into the TV?

BEST ANSWER: Perhaps it requires telepathy. One would never know with such incompetent catalog listings! What is the battery, NiCd or Li-ion? What is the charging time and battery time to recharge? Is the audio cable included: if so, RCA or earphone plugs? Mono or stereo? Do you always have to walk across the room to the TV because the charging base has a short cable? Is transmission RF or IR or Bluetooth: If RF, what frequency, in case of interference with WiFi, security cameras, baby monitors, or cordless phones? All of these are vital questions, in order to compare with similar earphones. Never buy such products without such answers.

BEST ANSWER: Plugging into the electrical outlet sounds great. If a battery is involved, it must not be a NiCd. The problem is plugging into the TV. That's a big NO, NO! The system is not truly wireless. I want something similar to a giant hearing aid hanging around my neck that I can walk around the house with.

Is this unit able, switchable, to amplify room volume and enable user to engage room conversation?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, press the round mic button on the front to switch from the tv streamed audio to the microphone which amplifies all other sounds picked up in the room. Sometimes it seemed to help my mother hear conversation, other times she didn't like it. May be too much other noise in the room.

BEST ANSWER: Unlike other amplifiers that merely make all sounds louder, this one amplifies only speech. You can use it without turning up the TV volume, so others in the room can enjoy watching TV with you.
